Throughout this course you will be creating components for an interdisciplinary/thematic unit. The unit will
contain lessons and technologies mastered throughout the course (see assignments below).
The interdisciplinary/thematicunit, lessons and technologies will be combined within an electronic portfolio
creating a dynamic expression of your work.

Assignment 1 - Explore Educational Technology Resources

Integrating Technology      
Explore a wealth of educational technology resources. If you identify additional resources, send an email and I will add them to the site.

 

Assignment 2 - Newsletter

Newsletter 30pts. Rubric  
This assignment will give you the opportunity to demonstrate your abilities to design a classroom newsletter. You can use a newsletter with your class to help your curriculum "come alive". Depending on your particular subject area, you can incorporate: student interviews, school or local news, classroom highlights, and graphic or digital pictures, just to name a few.

 

Assignment 3 - Inspiration

Inspiration 30pts. Rubric  
Visual learning is among the very best methods for teaching students of all ages how to think, and how to learn. Inspiration is a visual thinking and learning tool. With it your students can make venn diagrams, character maps, and story webs.

Assignment 4 - PowerPoint

 
PowerPoint 30pts. Rubric  
PowerPoint is not just for presentations. You will have opportunities to use this presentation program to create graphically enhanced information and instructions for learning centers, create tutorials, reviews, or quizzes for individual students and display student work and curriculum materials for student led conferences and evaluations.

Assignment 5 - Desktop Movie

With the use of digital technologies it is now possible to inspirer and captivate students by integrating desktop video within the curriculum. Now you can bring the sights and sounds that excite and inspire students into the classroom. iMovie helps you and your students make the most of digital production.

Assignment 6 - Technology Review Wiki

Technology Review Wiki 30pts. Rubric  
Evaluating the appropriateness and effectiveness of instructional technology is an important aspect of integrating current technologies into the classroom.  You will explore various emergent technologies to determine its appropriateness; content; and relevance to the curriculum for the teaching and learning process.

Assignment 7 - WebAuthoring/WebQuest

WebQuest 50pts. Rubric  
A WebQuest is an inquiry oriented activity in which some or all of the information that learners interact with comes from resources on the Internet. You will create an educational web site which will include the systematic process of creating a WebQuest. Throughout this assignment you will demonstrate your abilities to author web pages, search for appropriate resources, and upload documents to Internet.

Assignment 8 - SpreadSheet/Database

Spreadsheet/Database 30pts. Rubric  
Spreadsheets are great tools for analyzing data in the classroom. Spreadsheets can be used from kindergarten on, students can use spreadsheets to track their progress on their daily assignments, analyze weather data, manage the school store, explore prime numbers, study plant growth, learn about the stock market, investigate trigonometric functions, and more. A database can help learners to integrate and interrelate content ideas, which in turn makes the ideas more meaningful and more memorable. Building databases requires that learners organize information by identifying the relevant dimensions of the content. Through this assignment you will have the opportunity to demonstrate your understanding about spreadsheets and databases in the classroom.

Assignment 9 - Reflection Blog

This assignment will provide an opportunity to create a blog site and reflect upon your educational technology integration skills for the teaching and learning process.

 

Assignment 10 - Electronic Portfolios

Electronic Portfolio 50pts. Rubric  
A portfolio is a purposeful collection of student work that exhibits the student's efforts, progress, and achievements in one or more areas. This assignment will give you the opportunity to understand the purpose of creating portfolios, electronic or not, for the purpose of evaluation. In addition, this electronic portfolio will give you the opportunity to demonstrate your instructional technology skills in a way that will impress any educational institution.
