Integrating Technology within the Curriculum

During this module you will have an opportunity to get familiar with the course requirements and layout. Throughout this course you will be creating various technology products. These technologies will be combined to create an electronic portfolio representing a dynamic expression of your work. Each assignment is explained in detail within the course modules. Below are several examples of what you will complete by the end of this course. You may want to explore and constantly be thinking about the final requirement (the electronic portfolio) because you could build it throughout the course instead of waiting until the end. The choice will be yours. But for now, don't stress, explore and have fun.

There are National Educational Technology Standards (NETS•T) for Teachers and National Educational Technology Standards (NETS•S) for Students. The ISTE NETS for Teachers (NETS•T), focus on teacher education, define the fundamental concepts, knowledge, skills, and attitudes for applying technology in educational settings. All teachers should meet these educational technology standards. The technology standards for students are divided into six broad categories. Standards within each category are to be introduced, reinforced, and mastered by students. These categories provide a framework for linking performance indicators within the Profiles for Technology Literate Students to the standards. Teachers can use these standards and profiles as guidelines for planning technology-based activities in which students achieve success in learning, communication, and life skills. The standards are attached below. Download them and become familiar with these standards.
